The old channel-switching amps gave you a clean/distortion option. Usually, one was good, the other so-so. At Texas Tone, we pack two differently voice amps into one package. A Vintage channel that can play don't-wake-the-baby quiiet to gig-level. It loves to be played wide open, where it hass that sweet and creamy vitntage amp overdrive on tap, and it loves pedals. The Modern channel, with separate Gain and Volume controls, can go from bedroom quiet to heavy gig loud, for pure cleans to nasty distortion, and is still pedal-friendly!
One example is to set the Modern channel to Fender black-panel like cleans for country of jazz, and the Vintage channle wide open. Like swiching between a black panel and a tweed. Or set the Modern channel for some serious overdrive/distorion and the Vintage channel for mellow old-school vibes. The possibilites are endless!
Beautiful and striking in burgundy snakeskin and gold, the Texas Tone® Ranger is a dual-purpose all-tube guitar amplifier, with two separate preamp signal paths. The Vintage channel has a single gain stage, using my high-pass / low-pass independent Tone control. The result is sweet, vintage tube tones, with less overall volume than the Modern (high-gain). This makes it perfect for studio, practice, small venues, and is an excellent pedal platform. The noise floor and sensitivity on this channel is such that you can play quietly or crank it, and get great tube tone, without the hiss and hum you get from lessor tube amps.
The Modern, High Gain channel includes Gain, Treble, Bass, and Volume controls. It's loud, but with a twist. Separate Gain and Volume controls allow you to balance the output, so you can crank the input stages, dialing in the crunch and distortion you want, or play clean and loud. This channel has more drive for rock leads and works great with pedals.
The Combo is a loud, versatile amp with a single 12-inch ToneSpeak™ speaker that is perfect for blues and rock. Vintage American tone with tight lows and warm, smooth mids and highs, with strong upper mid emphasis and extended highs.
